
"The Voice," NBC's runaway smash singing competition, has its first winner: Javier Colon.
The American singer and songwriter is of Dominican and Puerto Rican origin and was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. No stranger to the music scene, Colon was a member of EmcQ, The Derek Trucks Band and has worked with several musicians before eventually going solo.
Prior to the show, he was signed to Capitol Records, but is now an independent artist with his own label, Javier Colon Music.
On the show, Colon became an early favorite after auditioning with a terrific rendition of "Time After Time," and he was mentored by Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.
